College Football Coverage: Big 12 Football TV Schedule For Week 7

The day of the Red River Rivalry is upon us, and it’s one of two Big 12 games drawing national attention. Here’s a look at the Big 12 football TV schedule for Week 7…

Oklahoma-Texas (Noon, ABC): We’ve heard a lot about Mack Brown’s impending doom at Texas, and with even Longhorn legend Earl Campbell having turned on him I won’t dispute it. We can point out that Oklahoma is playing some tough defense, and that Texas is still without concussed quarterback David Ash, listed as out for Saturday. All that certainly suggests a decisive Sooner win with only covering a (-13) pointspread in play for the Longhorns.

But as we say all this, let’s keep in mind that Texas is still 2-0 in conference play, just as OU is. If the Longhorns’ competitive wins over Kansas State and Iowa State don’t inspire you, can you really say the Sooners’ hard-fought victories over West Virginia and TCU are something that suggests dominance.

All of which is to say don’t sleep on Texas. I’m not ready to return to the fold of the believers, but I will say they’ll make this game worth watching and cover that number in an ugly game.

Baylor-Kansas State (3:30 PM ET, Fox): Last November it was Baylor who was looking for a little respect and to get bowl eligible, while Kansas State was undefeated. Now the roles are reversed. It’s a little early to talk BCS with the Bears, and they haven’t beaten anybody–but they are blowing out the scoreboard lights, as their 73-42 win over West Virginia last week suggests.

Are they (-17) better than Kansas State? Interesting question, and I’m going to weasel out by saying I really don’t know. Facing a revenge-minded team on the road will be a good start to learning more about Art Briles’ team.

Two other league games kick off at noon ET, with split coverage on Fox Sports 1. It’s Kansas-TCU, and Iowa State-Texas Tech, with the Red Raiders looking to go to 6-0.
